Gee, Iverson Receive All-Region Recognition from NFCA

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its Division III Softball All-Region teams over the weekend, comprised of 383 student-athletes from 170 schools. Two University of Northwestern Eagles were among those selected for the Region IX teams. Mikayla Gee (Rochester, Minn./John Marshall) was named to the Second Team at second base, while Jadyn Iverson (West Fargo, N.D./West Fargo) took home Third Team honors at third base. Gee and Iverson are the first two Eagles to ever receive NFCA All-Region recognition.

The full NFCA press release can be accessed here.

Gee, a First Team All-UMAC selection last week, finished the season with 61 hits (third in program history for a single season) and a .452 batting average, which both led the team. She also entered the Northwestern record book with the second-most career runs scored (144), sixth-most runs in a single season (46) and the ninth-most career hits (166). The senior was also rock-solid in the field this season, turning in a fielding percentage of .940 with a career-high 76 putouts.

Iverson, also a First Team All-UMAC recipient, received her fair share of accolades this season as well. The senior slugger put up career-highs in home runs (3), RBI (48), doubles (15), runs (29) and slugging percentage (.614) to cap off her career at 3003 Snelling Ave N. The West Fargo native added to her record book presence this season by breaking program records for single-season RBI (48) and career RBI (144). Iverson is scattered across the record book in other categories as well, including (but not limited to) fourth in career hits (194) and career putouts (961), and a tie for fourth in career doubles (46) and career total bases (260). She was also a stalwart in the field throughout her career, finishing top-10 in career fielding percentage (.981).
