HUTCHINSON, Minn. – The University of Northwestern Women's Golf team continued its terrific play in the 2024 season on Friday at Crow River Golf Club with another team win and an individual win. Northwestern had four golfers finish in the top nine and shot 344 (+60) as a team to win the BLC Invite by 22 strokes over Crown College. UW-Superior finished in third place, 28 shots back. The field was comprised of the entire Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
Morgan Eckman (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) was up to her old tricks, dominating the field en route to medalist honors. The sophomore shot a 75 (+4) to win by eight strokes. Reigning UMAC Player of the Week
Paige Johnson (Zimmerman, Minn./Homeschool) brought home a third-place finish with an 87 (+16), while
Ellie Rolland (Otsego, Minn./Rogers) turned in a 90 (+19) to tie for seventh.
Sondra Melby (Ham Lake, Minn./Legacy Christian Academy) followed up her career-low round last Saturday in Wisconsin with a 92 (+21) to finish in ninth place, giving UNW four of the top nine finishers in the individual competition.
Isabelle Lee (Stillwater, Minn./St. Croix Prep) carded a 97 (+26) to finish in 15
th, while
Emelia Miller (Hudson, Wis./Hudson), who competed as an individual competitor separate from the team competition, shot a 102 (+31), tying for 20
th.
The Eagles will tee it up again Saturday morning against their UMAC foes at the MLC Invite, hosted by Martin Luther College. Tee times are scheduled for 10:00 AM at Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake.
