WARSAW, Ind. - On Friday morning, the University of Northwestern Men's Cross Country team ran the 8K race for the NCCAA National Championships. The Eagles battled against a new course after a 10-hour bus ride to finish 10
th overall as a team.
In the competitive race, the top two Eagle finishers remained the same as usual for Northwestern, as
Jacob Weddle (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) crossed the line with a time of 28:02.40 in 37
th place overall, while
Bennett Selfridge (Rapid City, S.D./Rapid City Christian) finished with a time of 28:47.20 in 53
rd place. These two seniors continually led the Men's team this year and completed their careers in Friday's race.
Nate Moser (West Des Moines, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) was the third Eagle to finish on Friday. Moser clocked a time of 29:44.10. Following Moser was
Peter Kephart (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern), who turned in a time of 31:21.00. Just 21 seconds behind Kephhart was
Joshua Ringsmuth (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove), who finished with a time of 31:52.60. The final two Northwestern runners were
Owen Van De Riet (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) and
Jadon Ratelle (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville). Van De Riet notched a time of 33:49.60 and Ratelle crossed the line with 35:16.60 on the clock.
This race marks the end of the 2024 season for the Men's team as they will say goodbye to their three seniors: Moser, Selfridge, and Weddle.
