GREENVILLE, S.C. – The National Christian College Athletic Association has announced their National Player of the Week recipients and for the second consecutive week, the University of Northwestern has claimed multiple awards.
Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) was named NCCAA DI Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week. Moeller lit up the stat sheet in UNW's two conference matchups, scoring five goals on 15 shots (nine on goal) while adding an assist. The senior scored the Eagles' lone goal at Wisconsin-Superior before exploding for four goals and an assist in Northwestern's 8-0 win at North Central.
Morgan Eckman (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) was named NCCAA DI Women's Golf Student Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row. She once again broke her own school record, shooting a 74 (+2) in the opening round of the Midwest Region Fall Classic on Friday. She followed that up with a solid 78 (+6) in the final round to finish in a tie for second place among the nearly 200 participants. Equally as exciting as the school record was Eckman's performance at the NCCAA North Central Regional earlier in the week. The freshman shot 83 on day one and 82 on day two en route to a fourth place finish. As the lowest scorer not on the winning team, she punched her ticket to the NCCAA National Championship, which will be held in Florida next month.
