Eagles Grab Three NCCAA Player of the Week Awards: Glanzer, Eckman, and Mersberger Earn National Recognition

GREENVILLE, S.C.- The National Christian College Athletic Association announced their national player of the week awards on Monday afternoon and to say the University of Northwestern Eagles were well represented would be an understatement. The Eagles brought home an incredible three NCCAA player of the week awards for individual athletes' performances this past week.

Abby Glanzer (Brandon, S.D./Sioux Falls Christian) was named the NCCAA DI Women's Volleyball Offensive Student Athlete of the Week. Glanzer had 24 kills in a five set match against #3 UW-Oshkosh and then added 24 more kills in a 3-0 win over #16 Transylvania. In addition to being named to the 2023 UW-Whitewater Invite All-Tournament team, the junior also became the 11th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career kills.

Morgan Eckman (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) was named the NCCAA DI Women's Golf Student Athlete of the Week. This past Thursday, Eckman won the UMAC Preview by tying the school record with a 77 (+5). Two days later, this past Saturday, the freshman somehow outdid herself. In a dual match with St. Kate's she broke her own school record by shooting a 75 (+3).

Haley Mersberger (Kiel, Wisc./Elkhart Lake Glenbeulah) was named the NCCAA DI Women's Soccer Offensive Student Athlete of the Week. The sophomore was on a goal scoring tear in the team's first week of UMAC play. She scored a hat trick in the conference opener against Bethany Lutheran and added two goals in the Eagles' win over Crown finishing with five goals in two games.
