MORRIS, Minn. – University of Northwestern Men's Tennis traveled to University of Minnesota Morris on Tuesday afternoon for a conference battle. The Eagles swept the Cougars to improve to 6-1 in the UMAC.
In doubles,
Jack Geurkink (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) and
Collin Hemann (Newton, Iowa/Newton) put UNW on the board with an 8-2 sweep of the #2 match.
Stewart Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Homeschool) and
Jacob Weddle (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) followed with an 8-0 sweep of their own at #1 doubles.
Darin Rupp (Sioux Falls, S.D./Roosevelt) and
Griffen Jarchow (Luverne, Minn./Luverne) wrapped up the 3-0 doubles sweep for UNW with an 8-3 victory in the #3 match.
In singles, Morrell won the #1 match 6-1, 6-1. Weddle swept the #2 singles match 6-0, 6-0. Geurkink took the #3 match 6-1, 6-0. Jarchow won #4 singles 6-2, 6-2.
Andy Stevenson (Fridley, Minn./Fridley) earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at #5 singles. Rupp swept his #6 singles opponent 6-0, 6-0.
Up next, Northwestern will host University of Wisconsin-Superior on Friday, April 21 for a 4:00 p.m. match.
