ST. PAUL, Minn.- The University of Northwestern Women's Soccer team was back in action at Reynolds Field once again on Monday night; the Eagles hosted games on Thursday and Saturday of last week as they continued their busy stretch. The Eagles dropped the nonconference contest to the College of Saint Benedict 7-1.
The second half was the better of the two halves for the home team Eagles. UNW had six shots to the nine that the Bennies had in the frame. The Eagles' lone goal also came in the second half, and it was a goal worthy of the many replays that were shown on the Eagle Sports Network.
Briella Babcock (Byron, Minn./Byron) scored the first goal of her young career and it was a rocket from about 20 yards out that just snuck between the goalie's outstretched hands and the cross bar.
Haley Mersberger (Kiel, Wisc./Elkhart Lake Glenbeulah) was credited with the assist.
Mya Chan (Brandon, S.D./Homeschool) led the Eagles with four shots and
Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) added two of her own.
Reagan Flaschberger (Shoreview, Minn./Centennial) was busy in goal and finished the game with a career high of 15 saves.
The Eagles will get a, very brief, rest as they will continue their busy stretch into this week. The Eagles host Martin Luther at 5:00pm on Thursday, September 29
