ST. PAUL, Minn.- Owen Boerema (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) continued his impressive run of receiving national and regional awards on Wednesday when he was named a Third Team All-American by D3Baseball.com. There were over 1,000 players nominated nationally for the All-American teams.
Boerema's 2022 season has become one of the most decorated seasons in program history. The junior picks up this All-American status after already being named an All-American by the NCCAA and being named the UMAC Pitcher of the Year. Boerema was also named the ABCA Region 9 Pitcher of the Year earlier this week.
Boerema finished the season with a 9-2 record. Making contact against Boerema is a struggle for opposing hitters as the junior currently leads all of NCAA Division III with 139 strikeouts in his 89 innings pitched. Boerema's control is remarkable as he only walked 26 batters in 2022, and opponents' batting average against him was .172. Boerema gave the Eagles a great chance to win every game that he pitched in, only giving up 14 earned runs on the year.
Owen Boerema (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) is currently pitching for the Mankato Moon Dogs in the Northwoods League.
