GREENVILLE, S.C.- The National Christian College Athletic Association announced their All-Americans for the 2022 Softball season and
Briggs Carlson (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) was named a First Team All-American. The Eagles' Softball team also had seven players named NCCAA Scholar-Athletes.
Briggs Carlson (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) saved her best for last as she put together the best season of her fantastic Eagle career in 2022. Carlson was the anchor of the UNW pitching staff all season long, appearing in 23 games and starting 20. It was challenge for opposing teams to score runs off her all season long. Carlson ended the season with a 2.75 ERA and pitched 15 complete game. In the 142.2 innings she pitched this year, the senior only gave up 56 earned runs, and only walked 48 batters. Carlson had 77 strikeouts on the year.
In addition to being the Eagles' ace, she also spent the year batting in the number three spot of the Eagles' lineup. Carlson led the Eagles with a .406 batting average and had 9 extra base hits (4 doubles, 4 triples, and a homerun). Carlson had 54 hits, scored 43 runs, and had 27 RBIs in 2022. Carlson's slugging percentage of .519 led the Eagles amongst qualified batters.
