ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Northwestern women's tennis team battled Bethel University of Indiana on Thursday. The Eagles fell 7-0 to the Pilots in the match.
The match was played with NAIA rules in effect, making doubles count not as three points but just one with the winning team of a majority of the matches earning the sole point. The Eagles got a win at the #2 match with
Taylar Smith (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) and
Elli Dodge (Wahpeton, N.D./Wahpeton) winning 6-4 for UNW. The Pilots took the #1 and #3 matches to win the one team point in doubles.
In the singles competition, the Pilots were playing at the top of their game. Bethel won each match to take the team match 7-0.
