Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Elijah Lundell

Eagles Fall to Storm’s Hot Shooting 81-58

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Northwestern men's basketball team took on the Storm of Crown College on Saturday night. The Eagles could not stop the hot hand of the Storm as they fell 81-58, though UNW remains in first place atop the UMAC standings with a 9-1 conference record while being 15-6 overall.

Both teams exchanged baskets to start the game off. Crown would go on to outscore Northwestern 22-10 to take a 25-12 lead in the first 10 minutes of the half. The Eagles would roar back with their own 9-2 run to cut their deficit down to six points. However, the Storm would once again show their hot hand as they went on another run to end the half up 39-24.

Although Northwestern battled to the very end, Crown was just too hot from the floor, shooting 44.1 percent from the field and hitting 40 percent of their attempted threes. It seemed like every shot they took, they could not miss. The Eagles fell to the Storm 81-58.

A bright spot for the Eagles was their ability to rebound the ball as they won the battle 42-38, including 13 offensive rebounds. Their defense pressure was also felt as they had four blocks and three steals that earned them six points off turnovers.

Leading the team in points and rebounds was Henry Fahnbulleh (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) who scored 16 points while grabbing seven boards. Second in scoring was Noah Alm (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) who found 12 points alongside six rebounds while Owen Boerema (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) also had a nice night, finishing with 10 points and five rebounds.

Northwestern will be back on the road as they head to Wisconsin to take on the Lumberjacks of Northland College. The game will be taking place on Friday, February 11 at 7:15 p.m. For all things UNW Men's Basketball, fans can follow along at www.unweagles.com or on Twitter and Instagram at @unwmbb.
