ST. PAUL, Minn.- The University of Northwestern Men's Soccer team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday when they honored their three graduating seniors (
Cade Looney (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville High School),
Peter Skoglund (Northfield, Minn./Skoglund Academy), and
Andrew Skoglund (Northfield, Minn./Skoglund Academy)) before the team competed against Wisconsin-Superior. The Eagles would drop the contest 4-0 to the visiting Yellowjackets.
The Eagles played well in the first half as the first 45 minutes of play passed without a goal being scored by either team and it was a scoreless tie at halftime.
Andrew Skoglund (Northfield, Minn./Skoglund Academy), who was one of the seniors honored before the game, kept the Eagles in the game early as he would finish the game with 7 saves. However, in the second half, the Yellowjackets found their offense by scoring in the 56
th, 63
rd, 84
th, and 84
th minutes to win the game 4-0. Due to a player receiving two yellow cards, the Eagles played with only 10 players for the entirety of the second half.
Jonathan-Thomas Olsen (Modesto, Calif./James Enochs High) had two shots in the contest while
Tim DeLoye (Wausau, Wisc./Wausau West),
Rigo Arellano (San Diego, Calif./Montgomery), and
Garrett Miers (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) each added one.
The Eagles have two more regular season games left in the 2022 campaign and their next one will take place on Wednesday, October 26
th when they face Bethany Lutheran on the road. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 P.M. start.
