Lexington, KY –– The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced its 2021 North Central All-Region Team. Following one of the best season's in school history,
Ellie Ronning (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria Area) was named the North Central Region Player of the Year. Head Coach
Alicia du'Monceaux was awarded Coach of the Year after guiding a young team with many underclassmen to second in the UMAC tournament. Ronning and
Briggs Carlson (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) were recognized for their outstanding play this season on the All-Region team.
Ellie Ronning (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria Area) led the NCCAA in many hitting stats, including average, doubles, triples, and slugging percentage. The senior set a variety of single-season records as well with a .542 average, 64 hits, 98 total bases, and a .609 on-base percentage. She is second in RBIs with 45, second in doubles at 19, third in slugging percentage at .831, and third in triples with six. She was also named to the UMAC All-Conference Team and the All-Defensive Team. In addition to leading the NCCAA in average, her .542 season average places her 15th in DIII. Of the 14 players ahead of her, only one played more than her 38 games. For her career, she finishes first with 51 doubles, second for total bases at 282, fourth with 184 hits, fourth for home runs at 9, fourth in slugging percentage at .639, and seventh with a .417 average. She wrapped up her illustrious career with one of the best seasons in school history.
Briggs Carlson (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) was also recognized on the All-Region team, as she hit .400 from the leadoff spot throughout the season. She had a .441 on-base percentage and was a constant spark at the top of the lineup. The junior tied for the team lead with 33 runs scored and stole six bases. She was also named to the UMAC All-Conference team to recognize her exploits at the plate and in the circle. Over her 116.1 innings pitched, she compiled a 4.03 ERA (2.93 in conference play) while striking out 64. She had a 9-8 record and threw eleven complete games as the pitching staff's ace.
