ST. PAUL, Minn. - The University of Northwestern St. Paul Women's Tennis team swept the Buena Vista University Beavers on Friday evening 9-0.
Sabrina Bush (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake) and Angel Beaufeaux (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) opened the match with an 8-0 win at #3 doubles for the Eagles. The duo of Elli Dodge (Wahpeton, N.D./Wahpeton) and Jessica Gross (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) followed with an 8-1 win in the #2 match. Mafee Rinta (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) and Taylar Smith (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) wrapped up the doubles competition with an 8-2 victory at #1 doubles.
In singles, the Eagles earned a swift win in the #5 match as Dodge swept 6-0, 6-0. Gross followed with an identical 6-0, 6-0 sweep of the Beavers at #3 singles, earning the game-deciding fifth match point.
With the win in hand, the Eagles didn't let up. Bush earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #6 singles. Smith then took her #4 match 6-1, 6-0. Rinta proceeded to wrap up her #1 singles contest with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Weddle closed the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the #2 spot, completing the 9-0 sweep for the Eagles.
