ST. PAUL, Minn. - The University of Northwestern St. Paul Women's Tennis team earned a pair of 9-0 wins on Saturday, besting Bethany Lutheran 9-0 at home before traveling to take down Crown 9-0 as well.
Mafee Rinta (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) and Belinda Weddle (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) teamed to take the #1 doubles match 8-6 in the opening game of the day against BLC. The Eagles likewise won #2 and #3 doubles with scores of 8-1 and 8-0, respectively.
Angel Beaufeaux (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) earned the fifth point of the match for UNW with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #6 singles.
After securing their conference-opening win on their home courts, the Eagles traveled for their second UMAC contest of the day at Crown.
The Eagles had great success against the Storm, winning 96 games to their opponents' eight. Weddle earned the match-clinching fifth point with a 6-0, 6-4 win at #2 singles.
Up next for Northwestern is another match with Crown, this time at home on Tuesday, April 13, at 7pm.
