CLINTON, Iowa - The University of Northwestern St. Paul Women's Tennis team played their final match of their Spring Tennis Trip on Tuesday, falling 6-3 to Loras College .
The Duhawks took an early lead with a win at #1 double, but
Sabrina Bush (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake) and
Taylar Smith (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) evened the match score for the Eagles with an 8-3 win at #3 doubles. Loras won the #2 match to take a 2-1 lead at the end of doubles.
In singles, the Duhawks went up 4-1 with wins at the #3 and #5 matches. Smith preserved the Eagles' hope with a 7-5, 6-4 win at #6 singles. However, the Duhawks responded with a win at #4 singles to clinch the match-deciding point.
The Eagles earned another win at #2 singles to close out the match as
Belinda Weddle (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) battled to a 6-4, 3-6, 10-2 victory.
