LAKEVILLE, Minn. - The University of Northwestern St. Paul Women's Tennis team competed with the University of Dubuque on Friday night. The Eagles swept the Spartans 9-0 for their first win of the year.

UNW earned quick win in doubles as the Spartans forfeited the #3 match. The contested matches likewise went to the Eagles, as the duo of Sabrina Bush (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake) and Angel Beaufeaux (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) swept their #2 match 8-0 before Belinda Weddle (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) and Ellie Dodge (Wahpeton, N.D./Wahpeton) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win at the #1 match.

The Eagles quickly went up 4-0 at the start of singles, as the Spartans once again forfeited a match, this time the #6 contest. UNW rolled through their singles competition, sweeping four of the five played matches and winning 60 games to the Spartans' four. Smith won the match for the Eagles with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at #5 singles to give UNW their fifth team point.

Gross followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the #3 spot, Weddle then completed her 6-0, 6-0 win at #2, and then Dodge won her #4 match 6-0, 6-0.

Mafee Rinta (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) closed out the match at the #1 singles contest, winning 6-2, 6-2 to complete the 9-0 sweep for the Eagles.

Up next for the Eagles is their Spring Tennis Trip, starting with a match at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on March 5 at 5:45pm.
