Men's Hoops Defeats Northland College on the Road, 76-64

ASHLAND, Wis. – The University of Northwestern men's basketball team traveled to Northland College for Saturday afternoon action. With a slow start, the Eagles closed out the game with an eight point lead, 76-64.

UNW moves to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in UMAC play, extending their win streak to four.

Tipoff started with a Jacks three pointer before Noah Alm (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) began the scoring for the Eagles. Scoring started slow but went back and forth between teams. UNW's first lead came off of a Noah Alm (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) three pointer from Henry Fahnbulleh (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove), 10-7. Northwestern gained some momentum and went up by as many as five in the first.

With 10 minutes remaining in the half, the Jacks took control and went on a run to go up nine. The Eagles battled back in in before the half ended to bring themselves within two of the Jacks, 32-30. Seven Eagles turnovers gave Northland the upper hand going into the half.

Heading into the half, the Eagles shot 50 percent from the field and 75 percent from the charity stripe. Northwestern's last lead came when they were ahead 19-16 before the Jacks went on a nine point run.

Second half UNW outscored the Jacks 46-32 to snag the win. For the first 15 minutes, there were 17 lead changes between teams. The Eagles found their stride with just under five minutes to go as they went on a 10 point run to go up seven, 65-58.

The Jacks stayed close, but Northwestern pulled away on free throws and layups to finish the game up by 12, 76-64.

Noah Alm (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) netted 26 points, while Kyle Kaemingk (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) added 17 and Owen Boerema (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) had 13. Henry Fahnbulleh (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) grabbed 10 rebounds for the Eagles. Northwestern finished the game shooting 53 percent from the field to the Jacks 36.5 percent.

UNW's next game will be this coming Monday as they travel to Wisconsin-Superior for another conference matchup, tip-off beginning at 7 pm.
