Alm Leads Eagles with Double-Double at Crown

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's basketball team travelled to Crown College Thursday evening for their second to last conference game of the regular season. The Eagles found themselves down and were not able to surpass the Storm, falling 76-62.

Thursday's game was only the fifth time in program history UNW lost to Crown. They fall to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in the UMAC.

After the tip, Crown was the first to score before a three pointer made by Kyle Kaemingk (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy). In the first half alone there were eight lead changes and six tie games. Play was back and forth as the most either team led by was three or four points. With time winding down in the first, Northwestern found themselves down by three.

Noah Alm (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) had 10 points in the first, with UNW shooting only 25 percent from the field yet were 13 of 13 from behind the charity stripe.

The second half began with the Storm extending their lead with a three pointer before Kyle Kaemingk (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) answered on the other end from behind the arc. UNW tied the score up early before an eight point run by Crown.

With five minutes left in regulation, Northwestern fought their way back from a 15 point deficit to bring themselves within six of Crown off of back-to-back threes by Noah Alm (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) and Kyle Kaemingk (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy). The Eagles were unable to get any closer to the Storm as time ran out.

Noah Alm (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) finished with a double-double scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Kyle Kaemingk (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) netted 18 points and picked up eight rebounds for the Eagles. Northwestern out-rebounded Crown 43-37 in a heartbreaking loss.

UNW will be back in action for UMAC Tournament play; time, date and place yet to be determined.
