Jordan Sauve Leads Eagles With Career High 22 Points in Win Over Bethany Lutheran, 85-72

MANKATO, Minn- The Northwestern Women's Basketball was hosted by Bethany Lutheran in Thursday nights game. The Eagles finished the game 85-79, Jordan Sauve (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) led the team with her career high 22 points, shooting six for seven from behind the arc.

First quarter play started with Northwestern's Brooklyn DeKam (Edgerton, Minn./Southwest MN Christian) scoring two. Jordan Sauve (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) and Hailey Paup (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Concordia Academy) led the quarter for UNW with six points each. The Eagles were three for three from behind the arc and three for three from the free throw line. Northwestern ended the quarter down one, 21-20

The second quarter started strong for the team with a block from Jordan Sauve (Blaine, Minn./Blaine), a steal by Grace Langmade (Pine City, Minn./Pine City) and a bucket from Megan Roberts (Greeley, Colo./Dayspring Christian Academy). With six lead changes early on, strong defense kept UNW in the game holding the Vikings to only 15 points for the quarter.

Jordan Sauve (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) led the team with nine points at the half, Courtney Schmidt (Spring Valley, Minn./Kingsland) supplied seven points and Grace Langmade (Pine City, Minn./Pine City) added three from behind the arc. Brooklyn DeKam (Edgerton, Minn./Southwest MN Christian) and Hailey Paup (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Concordia Academy) both added six points and Megan Roberts (Greeley, Colo./Dayspring Christian Academy) contributed four points. The half ended Northwestern down by one 35-36.

The second half proved better for the Eagles starting with a steal right away from Brooklyn DeKam (Edgerton, Minn./Southwest MN Christian). Halfway into the third, UNW broke away for the rest of regulation. UNW's biggest lead came by nine with a layup from Brooklyn DeKam (Edgerton, Minn./Southwest MN Christian). Northwestern grabbed five total steals in the third, on top, 61-52.
 
The final quarter continued to show Northwestern's greatness as they outscored Bethany, 24-20. UNW shot 89 percent on free throws compared to the Vikings 54 percent. The Eagles had the final field goal of the night and played as a cohesive unit, with the bench supplying 15 points.
 
Behind Jordan Sauve's (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) 22 points, Hailey Paup (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Concordia Academy) netted 18 points from the inside, one short of her career high.
 
A great game on the road improves Northwestern's record to 11-4 and 5-1 in the UMAC.
 
UNW will host Northland College Saturday afternoon in another conference match-up, tipoff is set for 3 pm.
