Roberts Leads Eagles in Conference Win over Martin Luther, 73-55

NEW ULM, Minn. – The University of Northwestern's women's basketball team traveled to Martin Luther College Saturday afternoon for another conference matchup. Megan Roberts (Greeley, Colo./Dayspring Christian Academy) tallied her ninth double-double of the season, leading the Eagles to their 73-55 win.

Northwestern extended their winning streak to five, while moving to 10-4 on the season and 4-1 in the UMAC. The Eagles extend their all-time record against the Knights to 43-12.

UNW started on top of MLC early into the first quarter with a 12-6 lead. They continued their lead into the second quarter going up on the Knights by 23 at the most, heading into the half. The Eagles' defense proved powerful as they allowed Martin Luther to three points in the second quarter alone.

To end the half in scoring fashion, Jordan Sauve (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) hit a half-court shot as the buzzer sounded.

The third quarter was much of the same from the Eagles as they outscored the Knights 59-38 (in three quarters). Northwestern started with an eight point run on Martin Luther in the third. Heading into the fourth, UNW led by as many as 30 before the game ended, Northwestern on top 73-55.

Megan Roberts (Greeley, Colo./Dayspring Christian Academy) led things for the Eagles, bringing in her ninth double-double of the season with 25 points, 14 rebounds and three steals. Kelsea Lund (Madison, Minn./La qui Parle Valley) scored 16 points, while Brookyn DeKam added 13.

Northwestern scored 20 points off the Knights turnovers, opposed to MLC's nine.

The Eagles will travel to Mankato, MN this Thursday, tip-off slated for 7 pm against Bethany Lutheran College.
