Roberts' Double-Double Robs Pipers Of First Win Of The Year

ST.PAUL, Minn. -- The University of Northwestern Women's Basketball squad was back in action on Saturday evening playing host to Hamline University. This is the 2nd day in a row that the Eagles have competed, falling to NCU (MN) last night in their first conference match of the season.

UNW was victorious in this one, beating Hamline 66-51.

The Eagles got up on Hamline early, taking a 12-4 lead midway through the 1st quarter thanks for Brooklyn Dekam's 8 points in the quarter. Hamline would fight back though, ending the quarter with a score of 18-14, in favor of UNW.

UNW used the 2nd quarter to go up big on the Pipers, outscoring them 21-10 in the quarter. The Eagles scored at will, making big time layups and jump shots to extend their lead going into the half, 39-24.

The second half had the Eagles sitting comfortably for the rest of the game. Never letting Hamline creep back into it. The Eagles went on to take this one, 66-51, moving their record to 6-4 on the season.

Brooklyn Dekam once again led the Eagles in scoring, netting 19 points with 5 rebounds. Megan Roberts (Greeley, Colo./Dayspring Christian Academy) had herself a night, scoring 14 points with 12 rebounds, making this her 6th double-double of the season. Kelsea Lund (Madison, Minn./La qui Parle Valley), in her second game back in the lineup, scored 15 points.

The Eagles will look to keep their winning streak rolling, as they host UW-Superior on Thursday, February 4th, for their second conference matchup of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
