Kyle Kaemingk Leads Eagles in Wednesday Night Action

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The University of Northwestern men's basketball hosted Crown College on Wednesday night in the Erickson Center. The Eagles (2-1) played a well-executed game as the Storm competed in their first game of the season. UNW took the victory in high scoring fashion and never losing in the contest, defeating Crown 96-74.

Northwestern started the game strong with a nine point lead in the first three minutes. UNW out-rebounded the Storm in the first half with an impressive 27 rebounds to 13.

The Eagles, shooting 53 percent to Crown's 29 percent, led the Storm at the half 47-27. Kyle Kaemingk (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) led UNW with 16 points and a buzzer beater to end the half.

Northwestern started the second half with a bucket and a steal to continue their 20 point lead. The Eagles capitalized on 22 second chance points and caused 14 Crown turnovers to go up big over the Storm. Crown continued to fight for shots but came up empty due to a strong defensive front.

Northwestern dominated the game with a highlight dunk from Caleb Hoilien (Minneapolis, Minn./Hope Academy), who also led the team with his career high, 10 rebounds. Kyle Kaemingk (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) led the team with 25 points followed by Noah Alm's (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) 18 points and Henry Fahnbulleh (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) added 10. Northwestern ended the game shooting 73 percent from the charity stripe and 57 percent from the field.
