Eagles Soar As They Defeat Faith Baptist on The Road

ANKENY, Iowa – The University of Northwestern men's soccer team hit the road to Ankeny, Iowa where they went head to head with Faith Baptist for a Thursday evening matchup. Faith Baptist is coming off one of their best seasons in recent memory, finishing as runner up in the MCC Conference which was their best in 5 seasons.

Faith Baptist came into the match with only one win, sitting at 1-5 for the season while the Eagles were at 2-4.

With both teams needing a win to get their seasons back on track, UNW came out firing on all cylinders, scoring 4 goals in the first half to go up 4-0. Luke McCann (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield High School) led the Eagles with not one, but two goals in the first half while adding one assist. Jonathan-Thomas Olsen (Modesto, Calif./James Enochs High) and Koby Wesselink (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn-Mar High School) also netted a goal for the Eagles in the half. The Eagles ended the half with 29 shots compared to Faith Baptists 2.

UNW came out in the second half and gave no breaks to Faith Baptist's goalie, adding another 14 shots to their total. Samuel Jorgensen (Milwaukee, Wis./West Allis Central) got one in the back of the net for the Eagles, assisted by William Marsan (Eden Prairie, Minn./Home School), to give the Eagles a 5-0 lead.

UNW dominated in total shots for the night with 43, 23 being shots on goal. Faith Baptist was only able to get off two shots for the night. The Eagles now sit with 76 shots on goal for the season with a percentage of .531.

Jonathan-Thomas Olsen (Modesto, Calif./James Enochs High) led the Eagles in shots with 11, Luke McCann (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield High School) had 8 while Cole Alfrey (Elkhorn, Neb./Elkhorn) and Koby Wesselink (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn-Mar High School) each chipped in 4.

The Eagles now sit at 3-4 on the season.
