ST. PETER, Minn. – The University of Northwestern volleyball team closed out weekend action with a non-conference match-up at Gustavus Adolphus College Saturday morning. The Eagles cruised to a three-set sweep over the Gusties, the program's first win over GAC since September 2017. With final set scores of 25-23, 25-22 and 25-21, UNW secured their third straight win.

The Eagles improve to 9-4 on the year, while Gustavus falls to 8-8 overall. The Gusties defeated Minnesota Morris – who were picked alongside UNW as the top team in this season's UMAC Preseason Poll – in three sets last week.
 
Northwestern jumped out to a quick 15-7 lead in set one propelled by three straight kills from Kalley Schwitters (Clara City, Minn./Central Christian). The Eagles kept the momentum going – jumping out to another early lead in set two, the result of 12 attack errors by the Gusties in the set.  
 
Northwestern hit .225 in the match to Gustavus's .187. Jenay Fuglestad (Maple Grove, Minn./Heritage Christian) and Kalley Schwitters (Clara City, Minn./Central Christian) recorded eight kills apiece, while Anna Gasch (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) added seven.
Sydney Schwitters (Clara City, Minn./MACRAY) recorded 29 assists, while three Eagles picked up double-digit dig totals – Marylyn Schroyer (Ft. Collins, Colo./Ft. Collins) (15), Kate Rogers (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) (11) and Sydney Schwitters (Clara City, Minn./MACRAY) (10).
 
Northwestern will be back at it on Tuesday, Oct. 1 when they take on St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. against the Saints. Live stats and video will be available here.
