Box Score 2 RIVER FALLS, WIS. – The University of Northwestern volleyball team matched up with #12 College of Saint Benedict for the second time this season in Saturday action at the UW-River Falls Tournament. The Eagles took a set from the (10-1 overall) CSB team, but fell in final scores of 25-19, 25-21, 16-25 and 25-16.
Northwestern then took on tournament host, UW-River Falls in the day's second match – defeating the Falcons in four sets. Northwestern moves to 6-3 overall on the year as they prepare for a pair of MIAC opponents this week (St. Kate's and Hamline).

The Eagles played consistent in set one, committing just three errors but falling short to a .455 hitting CSB team. Northwestern's consistency declined in set two, but they stuck with the MIAC powerhouse – falling just short after the score was tied up at 21 all.
UNW dominated set three, starting the match on an 8-0 run. The Eagles hit nearly a .400 average and were jumpstarted by three kills from
Anna Gasch (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock).
Despite the third set success, Northwestern suffered from an inconsistent set four – handing the match to CSB.
Kalley Schwitters (Clara City, Minn./Central Christian) pounded down 20 kills in the four-setter, while
Jenay Fuglestad (Maple Grove, Minn./Heritage Christian) added 12.
Kendra Hardy (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria) tacked on 10.
Sydney Schwitters (Clara City, Minn./MACRAY) dished out 45 assists and
Marylyn Schroyer (Ft. Collins, Colo./Ft. Collins) dug up a team-best 12 balls.

Coming off a four-setter with St. Ben's, the Eagles fell to the well-rested River Falls squad in set one action. Northwestern fought back, pushing set two to a 27-25 score – finished off by a service ace from
Sydney Schwitters (Clara City, Minn./MACRAY).
The Eagles soared to a quick set three win after putting together a 9-2 run to start. Set four was not so easy. After trailing by four early on, the Eagles tied it up at eight points apiece where the match remained within two points for the entirety. It was all tied up at 22, but it would take 18 more points for a winner to be declared. It was
Lucy Pelzel (St. Joseph, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral) with the game-winning kill that gave Northwestern the 32-30 set and match win.
Fuglestad and
Kalley Schwitters (Clara City, Minn./Central Christian) were at it again offensively. Fuglestad recorded 20 kills, while Schwitters added 12.
Marylyn Schroyer (Ft. Collins, Colo./Ft. Collins) dug up a career-best 34 balls in the four-setter. Northwestern tacked on 12 service aces in the match – bringing their season total up to 73.
