ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's track and field team is coming off a strong performance at the 2019 UMAC Outdoor Championships. In the two-day meet hosted by the University of Minnesota Morris, junior Evan Pruitt (Temecula, Calif./Rancho Christian High School) led the way for Northwestern, scoring the most points of any athlete in the meet. Pruitt along with thrower, Felipe Ramirez (/Faribault, Minn.), landed on the league's All-Conference list.

Pruitt proved himself to be the fastest man in the UMAC – winning both the 100m and 200m dash at last weekend's Championships. With two Individual Championships, Pruitt scored 20 major points for the Eagles. The junior also added a fourth place finish in the long jump (6.29m), a second place performance as a member of the Eagles' 4x100 relay and a fifth place finish in Saturday's high jump (1.78m). 

Felipe Ramirez (/Faribault, Minn.), a newcomer to the UNW track & field team, made quite the impact in his first season. Ramirez notched a second place finish at the Championships, throwing 14.45m in the shot put. He was back at it in the discus, securing a third place finish with a toss of 14.45m. 
 
Pruitt and Ramirez both qualified for the NCCAA National Outdoor meet taking place May 8-10 in Winona Lake, Ind. Follow UNW track & field online at www.unweagles.com.
