MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The University of Northwestern women's tennis team matched up with MIAC powerhouse, St. Thomas, in Tuesday evening action at Baseline Tennis Center. The Tommies, who are 10-2 on the year, pulled off the 9-0 win over the Eagles.

The Tommies put an end to UNW's three match win streak. Northwestern took 10 games off St. Thomas in doubles action led by the no. 2 team of
Shawna Spears (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln) and
Mafee Rinta (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) and no. 3 pairing of
Gracie LeBrun (Pine City, Minn./Pine City) and
Rachel Lukkarila (Becker, Minn./Homeschool) who took their matches to 8-4.
Lukarilla also battled her opponent at no. 5 singles, winning six games in the two set loss.
The Eagles will return to action on Monday, April 22 when they welcome North Central and Minnesota Morris to St. Paul. First serve is slated for 12 p.m. against the Rams.
