Northwestern Falls to North Park in Day 5 of Spring Trip

The Eagles lost their first game of the season on Monday as they fell 12-6 to North Park University.  The Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first and added a second in the fourth.

Northwestern came alive in the top of the sixth, though, as they scored six runs in the frame.  Sam Peterson (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) led off with a single and then Wyatt Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Home School) singled him to third before Aaron Krahn (Roseau, Minn./Roseau) hit a line drive over the left field fence for his first home run of the season.  Holt Goodwin (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) continued the hot hitting by smacking a single up the middle, Bradley Spencer (Papillion, Neb./Papillion South) walked, and then Eric Peterson (Coon Valley, Wis./Westby) hit a RBI single to center to score Goodwin.  Andrew Simonson (Hudson, Wis./East Ridge) walked to load the bases and then Sam Peterson (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) was hit by a pitch to bring home Spencer.  Morrell drew another walk to bring home Eric Peterson (Coon Valley, Wis./Westby) before the inning ended with the bases still loaded.

North Park responded in a big way in the bottom of the frame as they scored seven runs of their own to make it 9-6.  The Eagles had another rally in the seventh as they loaded the bases again but were unable to capitalize.  The Vikings scored three more in the bottom of the eighth to make the game 12-6 before the Eagles went down quietly in the ninth.

Quinton Lindow (Cannon Falls, Minn./Cannon Falls) got the start and threw the first five innings before Caleb Piersma (Pella, Iowa/Pella) came in mid-way through the sixth and finished the inning.  Andrew Simonson (Hudson, Wis./East Ridge) got four outs before Dylan Ramberg (Harris, Minn./North Branch) made his collegiate debut and got the last two.

The Eagles had ten hits with Aaron Krahn (Roseau, Minn./Roseau) providing three of them with three RBIs.  Wyatt Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Home School) also reached base three times as he got one hit and drew two walks.  Bradley Spencer (Papillion, Neb./Papillion South) reached twice as he got a base knock and drew a walk.

The Eagles next play on Tuesday night under the lights at 7:30 versus Washington College at Lawnwood Field #1.
