ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team welcomed conference-leader, UW-Superior to the Ericksen Center for Wednesday night action. The Yellowjackets, who were ranked no. 8 in the first NCAA regional rankings released today, drained 13 three-pointers enroute to an 81-59 final win.
The Eagles put together a strong start, taking an 8-4 lead over the Yellowjackets through six minutes of action. The Eagles hung around, falling behind by three before
Brooklyn DeKam (Edgerton, Minn./Southwest MN Christian) connected on a shot from beyond the arc to tie it up (15-15) at the end of the first.
Despite trailing by 16 in the second quarter, the Eagles went on another scoring tear to pull within 11 and entered the half down 40-29.
Brooklyn DeKam (Edgerton, Minn./Southwest MN Christian) and
Megan Roberts (Greeley, Colo./Dayspring Christian Academy) finished the first half leading the Eagles offensively with eight points apiece.
The Yellowjackets came out firing, draining back-to-back threes to ultimately extend the lead to a game-high 24 points. Northwestern was held scoreless for three minutes in the third before an

Rio Landers (Grand Meadow, Minn./Grand Meadow) fast-break ended UNW's offensive drought.
DeKam continued to lead Northwestern in scoring, tacking on eight more points in the second half to finish with a team-best 16 on the night.
Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) added 13 points, three steals and five rebounds.
Miranda Crenshaw (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) pulled down seven rebounds and dished out four assists.
The Yellowjackets scored 22 points off of turnovers and connected on 12 of 13 shots from the line to seal the conference win.
Northwestern falls to 10-12 overall, 7-6 in the UMAC as UW-Superior improves to 21-2, 13-1 in conference play this season.
Northwestern will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 9 when they travel to Duluth, Minn. to take on St. Scholastica. The Saints enter the match-up with a 6-15 record and a 5-8 mark in the UMAC. Follow the game live via live stats and live video at
