Men’s Soccer Defeated by Knights

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's soccer team hosted the Carleton College Knights in a non-conference bout. The Knights defeated the Eagles Monday evening by a final score of 2-0. With the loss, UNW falls to 1-10-1 on the season.

The first half was slow-going for both teams. The Northwestern defense was able to stonewall the Carleton offensive attack, holding the Knights to just two shots in the opening half. The Eagles did not fare much better, only amassing four shots.

The offensive troubles continued for UNW into the second half. They were totaled only five more shots, one shot on goal, in the closing half. The Knights, however, were able to find their groove. Carleton was able to find the back of the net twice within a minute midway through the second frame, resulting in the final 2-0 score.

The men's soccer team will return to conference play, hosting Minnesota-Morris on Wednesday, October 9. Fans can keep up with UNW soccer by visiting www.unweagles.com or following @unwmsoc on Twitter and Instagram.
