MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's soccer team picked up their second straight win this season on Saturday afternoon, defeating the North Central Rams by a final score of 4-1. Three different Eagles enter the scoring column on the win, as UNW improves to 3-10-1 overall and 2-1-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) contests. With the victory, Northwestern jumps up to third in the UMAC men's soccer standings.
The Eagle offense come out to send a message, amassing a staggering 29 shots in the opening frame. They were able to capitalize on their efforts, with
Taylor Modaff (Monticello, Minn./Monticello) netting the first goal of the game in the 20th minute off of an assist from
Cole Uplegger (New Prague, Minn./New Prague High School). North Central would even the contest, scoring just minutes later to tie the game at 1-1. In the 31st minute, UNW would reclaim the lead with Modaff assisting on a goal from
Tim Meyer (Ashland, Wis./Ashland High School) to take the 2-1 advantage into the break.
The Northwestern onslaught continued into the second half, scoring two more goals in the middle of the second half to secure the victory.
Derrick Aminga (Andover, Minn./Andover) would net the third goal for UNW with some help from Austin Meyers on the assist. Meyer secured his second goal of the contest in the 73rd minute, with Uplegger tallying his second assist. The Eagles finished the contest with 45 shots, 29 of them being on-goal.
