RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The University of Northwestern men's basketball team traveled to River Falls, Wis. to take on the Falcons in Tuesday night non-conference action. Despite outscoring the Falcons in second half play, River Falls carried out a 54-point, 64% shooting effort from the first half to secure a 96-77 win.
Northwestern falls to 2-3 on the year as UW-River Falls improves to 4-1. The Eagles last defeated the Falcons during the 2012-13 season, and have fallen in the last two head to head match-ups by just four points.
After a slow start in the first half, Northwestern outscored River Falls 46-42 in the final 20 minutes. 32 of the Eagles second half points came from the bench, led by
Noah Alm (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) with nine and
Liam Mann (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield) with eight.
Brady Bellefeuille (Frazee, Minn./Frazee) led the scoring efforts for Northwestern, finishing with 13 points.
Tanner Youngberg (Pocahontas, Iowa/Pocahontas Area) and
Johnny Erickson (Minneapolis, Minn./Hope Academy) each added 10. Youngberg pulled down a team best 7 rebounds and tacked on three steals.
Julian Jackson paved the way for the Falcons, finishing with 24 points on 10 of 12 shooting from the field.
The Eagles will return to action on Friday, Nov. 30 when they welcome UW-Stout to the Ericksen Center. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
