ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's soccer team hosted conference opponent, Bethany Lutheran College (5-4-2, 2-2-2 UMAC). After 110 minutes of play, the match ended in a 1-1 draw. With the tie, Northwestern moves to 3-6-1 overall and 1-4-1 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
The first period was an even match between the two teams, with both notching 10 shots. Northwestern was first on the board, with sophomore
Austin Myers (Chester, Virg./Thomas Dale) scoring for the Eagles. Goalkeeper,
Aidan Lynch (Glendora, Calif./Western Christian) tallied three saves in the period.
Northwestern was plagued with a red card in the first half, causing them to play down a man in the second half. The Vikings were able to net a goal in the second half to even score at 1-1 at the end of regulation.
Both teams tallied shots in the overtime periods, but neither team was able to notch another goal.
