ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's soccer hosted conference opponent, Martin Luther (6-8-2, 5-3-2 UMAC) in a Saturday afternoon contest. The Knights fought off the Eagle offense, to secure the 1-0 win. With the loss UNW moves to 4-12-1 overall, and 2-7-1 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
The first half was scoreless for both teams. Northwestern had the 12-3 advantage in shots, but were not able to find the back of the net. The Eagle defense held strong, holding off the Knights and not allowing a goal.
The offense picked up for each team in the second half, as both were able to tally seven shots in the period. The game remained scoreless, until the Knights were able to score midway through the second half. The Eagles were unable to net a goal of their own in the half.
