ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Northwestern welcomed North Central University to the Ericksen Center for a Friday night UMAC match-up. The Eagles trumped the Rams in straight sets with scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-10.
With the win, Northwestern improved to 20-7 overall and 13-1 in the UMAC. This marks the Eagles' fourteenth straight season under Head Coach
Beth Wilmeth where they've reached twenty wins. NCU falls to 6-21, 1-13 in conference action.
In point comparisons, the Eagles scored 48 points to North Central's 23, in what resulted in a short 50-minute match.
Northwestern was led offensively by senior
Mariah Halvorsen (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) who tallied 11 kills and hit a .400 attack average. Freshman
Jackie Timm (Iowa Falls, Iowa/Iowa Falls) added seven kills, hitting .500 and
Jenay Fuglestad (Maple Grove, Minn./Heritage Christian) added six.
Kenna Wahl (Springfield, Minn./Springfield) added some offensive spark, knocking in three service aces in the three-setter.
Sydney Schwitters (Clara City, Minn./MACCRAY) was the stat leader on the defensive end, picking up 10 digs in addition to her 24 assists.
Anna Gasch (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) led the Eagles in their blocking efforts, taking part in four block assists and one solo block.
