ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's soccer team hosted the conference-leading UW-Superior Yellow Jackets (13-2-1, 8-0-1 UMAC) in a Tuesday evening contest. The Eagles drop the match by a final score of 4-2. With the loss, UNW moves to 4-10-1 overall and 2-6-1 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
The first half was a defensive battle for a majority of the period, with UW-Superior notching five shots to Northwestern's one. Neither team was able to find the back of the net, until the Yellowjackets scored with two minutes left in the half. Superior would take a 1-0 lead into intermission.
Gears shifted in the second half, as it became an offensive bout. Both teams totaled 11 shots, with five goals scored in the period. The Eagles were able to get goals from
Tyler Hurley (Bloomington, Minn./Eden Prairie) and
Derrick Aminga (Andover, Minn./Andover), but UW-Superior tallied the other three goals to secure the 4-2 victory.
