ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team dropped its conference contest with Bethany Lutheran (17-4, 10-2 UMAC), 70-52, Wednesday night inside the Ericksen Center. The Eagles fall to 11-9 overall and 7-4 in league action.
After Bethany Lutheran built a 16-9 advantage after the opening frame, UNW came storming back, as
Andrea Zimpel (Isle, Minn./Isle) drilled a triple as time expired in the first half to cut BLC's lead to 29-27. After the Eagles knotted things early in the third, the Vikings put together a run to outscore UNW 22-12 in the third before taking the contest, 70-52.
Taryn Tumbleson (Sherburn, Minn./Martin County West) and
Rio Landers (Grand Meadow, Minn./Grand Meadow) both reached double figures, netting 10 points apiece. Tumbleson also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists.
Jessica Brown (Watford City, N.D./Watford City) also tallied seven boards and Zimpel three assists.
UNW shot 36.5 percent from the floor and 29.6 percent from long range.
