Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Eagles Fail To Weather The Storm Wednesday

ST. BONIFACIUS, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's basketball team traveled to Crown College [8-10, 4-5 UMAC] Wednesday where they dropped a hard-fought conference battle by a final score of 83-76. With the road loss, UNW falls to 8-10 overall and 7-3 in league play.

The first half was a back-and-forth contest with each team trading baskets, resulting in a tied 33-33 score at the intermission break.

On the half, the Eagles shot just over 51 percent from the field, which outshined Crown's 31 shooting percentage from the floor.

Crown turned up the heat in the second half. Their largest lead never surpassed 10 points before Northwestern would make a brief run at trying to catch the home team. The Storm were able to maintain their lead in the final minutes, hitting crunch time free throws to secure the win, 83-76, over the visiting Eagles.

UNW shot 53.3 percent from the hardwood on the night's competition, while CC's finished with a 44.6 shooting percentage from the field.

Leading the charge for the purple and gold was Senior Isaiah Rahier (Northome, Minn./Northome), who tallied a career-high 32 points on 14-of-18 shooting from the floor. Junior Caleb Hageman (Charles City, Iowa/Charles City) was next in line as he added 18 points and nine rebounds, while Junior Brady Bellefeuille (Frazee, Minn./Frazee) came off the bench with 12 points, respectively.

Northwestern returns home Saturday, January 27, for a non-conference contest against Finlandia University. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. inside the Ericksen Center. For more information, fans should visit www.unweagles.com.
