Eagles Make it Three Straight With Win Over Yellowjackets

ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern men's basketball team used a strong shooting performance to upend visiting UW-Superior (4-12, 2-5 UMAC) Wednesday night inside the Ericksen Center, 74-69. The Eagles – who have won three straight – improve to 5-9 overall and 4-2 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.

Trailing by as many as 11 midway through the first half, UNW stormed back to cut the UWS lead to just three (32-29) at the break. The Eagles shot 63.6 percent from the floor in the second half en route to scoring 45 points and securing the win. UNW finished the contest hitting 52.1 percent of its shots from the field, while hitting at a 42.1 percent clip from 3-point land and 88.9 percent at the line. The Eagles also turned the ball over just six times.

Brady Bellefeuille (Frazee, Minn./Frazee) had his best game of the season, as the junior drilled a trio of 3-pointers and finished with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Tayler Slager matched Bellefeuille with his 17 points. Caleb Hageman (Charles City, Iowa/Charles City) was also in double figures, as the junior guard finished with 11.
