NEW ULM, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's basketball team made it four in a row with a 72-52 road win at Martin Luther College (2-13, 1-6 UMAC) Saturday afternoon. The Eagles better their season record to 6-9 overall and 5-2 in loop play.
UNW put together a dominant first half, shooting nearly 56 percent from the field en route to opening a 41-20 lead at the break. The Eagles kept their foot on the gas in the second 20 minutes of play, building a 27-point advantage with just over 16 minutes to play before cruising to the 72-52 win.
Tanner Youngberg (Pocahontas, Iowa/Pocahontas Area) paced the way, as the sophomore logged 14 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Caleb Hageman (Charles City, Iowa/Charles City) matched Youngberg's scoring output, as he hit 7-of-13 shot attempts to finish with 14 points.
Isaiah Rahier (Northome, Minn./Northome) also hit double figures, chipping in 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting. The senior also snatched seven boards.
Northwestern finished the matinee hitting 48.5 percent of its shots from the field. UNW struggled from long range, hitting just 3-of-16 3-point attempts. For the second consecutive outing, the team finished with less than 10 turnovers, as the Eagles coughed it up just seven times.
