Men's Soccer Drops Contest Against St. Thomas Tuesday

ST. PAUL, MINN. - The University of Northwestern men's soccer team [1-1-1 overall] came up short, 6-0, against the University of St.Thomas [3-0-0 overall] Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 1-1-1 on the season.

Both teams came out ready for action, battling to a 0-0 score up until the final 12:00 of the first half. Though UNW kept the pressure on, UST managed to net two goals to take a 2-0 lead at the intermission break.

Northwestern opened up the second half just as strong as the first, but St. Thomas's offensive power became too much for the visiting team to overcome. The Tommies sank three more unanswered goals on the period to finalize a 6-0 win over the Eagles.

Wrapping up the contest, UNW totaled four shots and three shots on goal, which fell short to UST's 22 shots and 12 shots on goal. Northwestern's game leaders on the mid-day match were Joshua Hintz (New Brighton, Minn./Mounds View) [3S / 2SOG] and Derrick Aminga (Andover, Minn./Andover) [1S / 1SOG].

The purple and gold will host Bethany Lutheran next Wednesday, September 13, at 5 p.m. Fans can follow the live action at www.unweagles.com.
