Volleyball Rolls to a Pair of Conference Sweeps

NEW ULM, MINN - The No. 8 Northwestern volleyball team remained perfect in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play on Wednesday, sweeping both Martin Luther College and the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The pair of sweeps extended the Eagles' winning streak to 11 games, and improved their record to 16-3 overall and 8-0 in the UMAC.

UNW 3, MLC 0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-15)
The Eagles opened the triangular with a convincing win over Martin Luther, who came into the day tied with UW-Superior for third place in the UMAC. Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) paced the Eagles with 18 kills, 14 digs, and two aces. UNW also got a strong performance from Kaelyn Kilbo, who produced 19 assists and three aces. Leesa Malone (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) dished out 17 assists herself, to go along with eight kills. Kaylee Fuglestad also hammered eight kills.

UNW 3, UWS, 0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-14)
The second match of the day brought about much of the same, as UNW took down another top UMAC team in straight sets. Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) led the Eagles in kills once again, registering 17. Jenay Fuglestad contributed 14 kills and a match-high four blocks. Kaelyn Kilbo again notched three aces, to go along with 16 assists. Leesa Malone led the team in assists with 20. UNW was led in digs by two of their senior captains, Abby Neuberger (Chanhassen, Minn./Southwest Christian) and Jackie Doering (Charles City, Iowa/Charles City).
