MINNEAPOLIS – The No. 8 University of Northwestern volleyball team made it 12-stragiht wins with a 3-0 sweep of North Central University Friday afternoon. The Eagles remain perfect in conference play (9-0) and move to 18-3 overall.
UNW hit a whopping .513 en route to winning by set scores of 25-11, 25-11, 25-7.
Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) (.478) and Mariah Halvorsen (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) (.516) both filled the stat sheet with double-digit kill totals, as Peterson floored a match-high 12, while Halvorsen added 10. Peterson also racked up a trio of service aces. Anna Gasch (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) returned to lineup Friday night and had a strong showing, posting eight kills to go along with two blocks. Abby Neuberger (Chanhassen, Minn./Southwest Christian) paced the way in the back row, tallying nine digs. The UNW defense held the host Rams to a -0.37 hitting percentage.
