NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The University of Northwestern baseball team (9-13) dropped a tightly contest non-conference game, 4-3, Thursday at St. Olaf College (7-10). It was the third meeting this week between the two programs, with the Eagles sweeping Tuesday's doubleheader in St. Paul.
UNW did its damage at the plate in the first two frames, putting up three runs, but St. Olaf answered with a pair in the fourth and then pushed a run across in the sixth and seventh to pick up the win.
Ryan Sutterer (Anoka, Minn./Anoka ) got the Eagles on the board in the first, as he scored on an error.
Braxton Lindow (Cannon Falls, Minn./Cannon Falls) posted an RBI single in the second, while
Tyler Osborn (Clive, Iowa/Des Moines Christian)'s RBI groundout scored UNW's third and final run.
Micah Williams (Gulfport, Miss. /Christian Collegiate Academy) got the nod on the mound, tossing the first five innings. The freshman left-hander surrendered a pair of runs on nine hits.
Corban Halbur (Richfield, Minn./Richfield) was tagged with the loss in relief, as he worked the seventh inning.
Brett Reinhart (Chanhassen, Minn./Southwest Christian) accounted for two of UNW's six hits at the plate, while
Nathan Ehnstrom (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) drew two walks.
