ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team built a 22-6 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, as the Eagles cruised to a 71-48 victory over Finlandia University (4-14) Saturday afternoon inside the Ericksen Center. UNW improves to 14-7 on the year.
Sharpshooter
Tiffany Stubbs (Ames, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) was once again efficient from long range, as the senior cashed in on 4-of-6 3-point attempts en route to scoring a game-high 16 points.
Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) was also in double figures, contributing 12 points after finishing 6-of-10 from the floor. Berglund pulled down eight rebounds and dished out four helpers to cap off her strong all-around effort.
The Eagles again shot the ball well, finishing the matinee shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from 3-point range. Finlandia ended hitting 29.2 percent of its shots, including 15.2 percent from downtown.
The Eagles will welcome Minnesota Morris (Friday) and Crown (Saturday) next weekend. Fans can find more information at
