ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern women's basketball used a strong shooting performance to pick up a 76-58 win over Northland College (8-13, 4-9) and move to 9-3 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play Friday evening inside the Ericksen Center. The Eagles better their season record to 13-7 overall.
UNW continued its hot shooting, as the Eagles hit 57.4 percent of their shots from the floor, including a 4-for-7 effort from long range.
Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) led all scorers with her 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Tiffany Stubbs (Ames, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) and Rachel Hart (Elgin, Minn./Home School) poured in 13 points apiece, while Jazinae Patterson (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) contributed 10. Berglund and Emily VanLith (Minot, N.D./Our Redeemers) both pulled down nine boards and Andrea Zimpel (Isle, Minn./Isle) dished out a game-high five assists.
Northwestern's strong defensive effort held Northland to a 37.7 shooting percentage from the field and a 29.4 percent effort from 3-point land.
