ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team competed against non-conference competitor Augsburg University [6-4] inside the Ericksen Center Saturday afternoon. The Eagles saw their three-game win streak snap, as they came up short against the visiting Auggies by a final score of 75-45. With the loss, the squad drops to 6-5 on the season.
UNW grabbed hold of the first quarter, leading by a tight 18-17 score. AU then found their groove as they pulled away in the second frame to take a 36-27 advantage into the intermission break.
Trailing Augsburg at the close of the first half, Northwestern managed to shoot 54.2 percent from the hardwood, which edged the Auggies 53.8 shooting percentage from the floor.
Though Northwestern was outscored in the third [21-8] and final [18-10] periods, the home team was able to add 18 more points to the scoreboard before the end of regulation. Augsburg's hot shooting was just too much for Northwestern Saturday afternoon, as the visiting team cruised to a 75-45 non-conference win over the home Eagles.
Concluding the afternoon contest, UNW shot 40.9 percent from the floor, while AU finished the game by shooting 50.8 percent from the field. As a team, the Eagles tallied 22 board [5 OFF, 17 DEF], totaled 11 assists, and snatched eight steals.
Berglund led all scorers on the day's competition, finishing the mid-day match with 23 points. The junior guard went 10-for-16 from the hardwood, and shot perfectly from both the charity stripe [2-for-2] and long range [1-for-1]. Teammates

Rio Landers (Grand Meadow, Minn./Grand Meadow) [4pts], and
Audrey Lefto (Stillwater, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) [4pts] all competed well, as the trio of Eagles added a combined 12 points to the scoreboard, respectively.
