NORTHFIELD, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team fell short to MIAC competitor Carleton College (1-1 overall), 49-31, Tuesday evening on the road. With the loss, the Eagles drop to 1-3 on the year.
The Knights showed up ready to battle, jumping out to a 23-10 lead by the intermission break and didn't look back, securing the non-conference win, 49-31, over the visiting Eagles.
Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) was the only player to finish in double digits, posting 11 points for UNW. The junior guard shot 5-for-13 from the field and 1-for-2 from the charity stripe. She also grabbed eight rebounds [2 OFF, 6 DEF] and tabbed one assist, respectively.

Taryn Tumbleson (Sherburn, Minn./Martin County West) [7 pts] and Freshman
Jordan Sauve (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) [5 pts] also played well as they contributed a combined total of 12 points for the Eagles. Tumbleson also snatched three boards [3 OFF] and tallied three blocks, while Sauve shot perfectly [1-for-1] from behind the arch and went 2-for-3 from the floor in her collegiate debut.
Northwestern ended the night by hitting 21.2 percent of its shots from the floor, while Carleton finished 31.8 percent from the field. In addition, the Eagles also capped off the night's competition with nine bench points, four assists, six steals, six blocks, and 30 rebounds [6 OFF, 24 DEF].
The purple and gold will travel down Snelling Ave for a non-conference contest at Macalester College on Monday, November 27. Tip off is set for 5:45 p.m. inside the Leonard Center in St. Paul.
