No. 7 Eagles Push Win Streak to 15 With Sweep of Carleton

ST. PAUL – The No. 7 University of Northwestern volleyball team continued on its terror, as the Eagles swept visiting Carleton College to push its win streak to 15. The Eagles – who reach the 20-win plateau with the victory – won by set scores of 25-16, 25-11, 25-17.

The Eagles owned the net, holding an 8-2 advantage in blocks and compiling a .300 hitting percentage, while holding their opponents to a .093 hitting percentage. UNW accumulated 61 points to Carleton's 26 and held a significant advantage in nearly every other statistical category.

Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) once again proved why she is a double-double machine – racking up a match-high 14 kills (.355) and 18 digs. Mariah Halvorsen (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) (.375) was equally impressive opposite Peterson, slamming 12 kills. Jenay Fuglestad (Maple Grove, Minn./Heritage Christian) had a strong night, tallying nine kills and a trio of blocks, while it was Kayla Tanner (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) owning the net defensively, posting five stuffs. Leesa Malone (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) and Kaelyn Kilbo (Delano, Minn./Delano) paced the attack, posting 19 and 17 assists, respectively. Malone also had four blocks.

UNW will resume conference play when it travels to Duluth for a 7 p.m. contest with St. Scholastica Friday. Fans can find more information on the volleyball program at www.unweagles.com or by following @unwvb on Twitter.
