ST. PAUL – The No. 7 University of Northwestern volleyball team continued on its terror, as the Eagles swept visiting Carleton College to push its win streak to 15. The Eagles – who reach the 20-win plateau with the victory – won by set scores of 25-16, 25-11, 25-17.
The Eagles owned the net, holding an 8-2 advantage in blocks and compiling a .300 hitting percentage, while holding their opponents to a .093 hitting percentage. UNW accumulated 61 points to Carleton's 26 and held a significant advantage in nearly every other statistical category.
Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) once again proved why she is a double-double machine – racking up a match-high 14 kills (.355) and 18 digs.
Mariah Halvorsen (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) (.375) was equally impressive opposite Peterson, slamming 12 kills.
Jenay Fuglestad (Maple Grove, Minn./Heritage Christian) had a strong night, tallying nine kills and a trio of blocks, while it was
Kayla Tanner (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) owning the net defensively, posting five stuffs.
Leesa Malone (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) and
Kaelyn Kilbo (Delano, Minn./Delano) paced the attack, posting 19 and 17 assists, respectively. Malone also had four blocks.
